#9: On the Flip Side of a Sequel...There is Another Sequel
Book News: A Post-launch Thank You!
As we come to the end of THE ASHFIRE KING’s launch month, I wanted to share one final thank you to everyone who has welcomed Book 2 into the world with so much cheer and excitement!
From signing (so many!) preorder copies to celebrating launch with readers at bookstore events, this month has truly been remarkable from beginning to end. THANK YOU all for the ASHFIRE shoutouts, the love, the reviews, and everything in between. I hope you enjoy being back with this chaotic crew for Book 2 💙
I’ll be participating in a couple of summer events around the East Coast this year but, mostly, I’m going to be offline focusing on Book 3 edits in the coming months. Which brings me to…
Writer’s Corner: On The Flip Side of a Sequel…There is Another Sequel
Now that THE ASHFIRE KING is out, many readers have asked when I might have Book 3 news to share. The truthful answer is that I don’t know! Right now, I’m in the middle of drafting and want to hold off on sharing anything until the manuscript is closer to its final form. As this is the finale with a lot of moving pieces, I want to make sure everything is ironed out before any dates are announced. That being said, I’m happy to report the writing process has been smooth-going so far!
I won’t tease much about Book 3 this early on, but I’d been saying in my Book 2 launch events that if THE STARDUST THIEF and THE ASHFIRE KING are two sides of the same (two-faced) coin, then the final book in the trilogy is the finale where both those sides collide. Because you get to see a different “side” of the Sandsea world in Book 2, a lot of new world building and magics are explored. But in Book 3… well, no spoilers, but suffice it to say, all the players are on the board and all the magics are in play, which means my focus has been on making sure all the puzzle pieces fit together.
Usually at this point in my process, I like to pull myself away from social media and write offline. It’s easier for me to immerse myself in my work when I can drone out the industry hustle and buzz—when it’s just me, the characters, and the manuscript. Though it’ll be awhile yet before I announce any Book 3 details, I am truly so excited to share more in the future! To anyone who’s been reading the series as it comes out: Thank you; it’s been a delight to share this journey as it unfolds. I hope you’ll look forward to updates for Book 3!

Alone Together by Fall Out Boy
I don't know where you're going
But do you got room for one more troubled soul
I don't know where I'm going
But I don't think I'm coming home
And I said, I'll check in tomorrow if I don't wake up dead
This is the road to ruin and we're starting at the end
Say, yeah
Let's be alone together
We could stay young forever
Scream it from the top of your lungs, lungs, lungs
Outro: It’s Gonna Be May!
Having just seen &Juliet on broadway for the first time this month (So!! Good!!) which also had a It’s Gonna Be May joke… I simply couldn’t resist this sign-off for April.
(Besides that, everyone knows I love a good meme.)
I’ll be in my writing cave for much of the month, but I hope you all have a great May!
